The Hunn House is the perfect Lake Michigan retreat to relax, explore, and gather! Enjoy a driftwood campfire on the beach!
Welcome to the Hunn House, a beautifully restored mid-century modern home perched on a dramatic bluff overlooking Lake Michigan -- the perfect place for family reunions, retreats, or a gathering of friends looking for a place to unwind.
Named after Florence Ely Hunn, a pioneering midcentury architect and designer, this updated historic home sleeps up to 14 people and includes 167 feet of private beach. Natural light streams into the Hunn House; nine large windows in the living area provide stunning views of the lake, including some of the most beautiful sunsets in the country.
The owners of this home recently brought Hunn’s vision for the property back to life. The interior has been carefully designed to highlight the distinctive geometric spaces of the home and complement the sweeping lake views. The home features a large open concept living space where a modern kitchen with island, spacious living room, and roomy dining space provide the perfect open area for entertaining a large group or having a quiet evening overlooking the lake. Wake up to lake views, soak in the calm breezes on one of two patios, and enjoy a movie night with either one of the two large flatscreen smart TVs with high-speed internet.
Located in the coveted Pier Cove, the Hunn House offers a perfect sanctuary for those who want to escape the noise and pace of modern life. Nearby you'll find local wine, beer and cider at Modales Wines, Fenn Valley Wineyards, Saugatuck Brewery, and Virtue Cider. There are local fruit farms that are great to visit in season. At Crane’s Orchards, you can pick your own fruit summer and fall; Crane’s Pie Pantry offers dining, and a place to buy delicious pies and apple cider donuts. At Blue Star Farms, you can pick your own blueberries, find specialty blueberry products, or buy blueberries in bulk. You'll be literally surrounded by the beauty and bounty of Southwest Michigan! Situated just south of the Saugatuck-Douglas area, west of Fennville and north of South Haven, you will find that there are many things to do within a short drive – antique shops, farm markets, and places to eat.
If you’d like more about Florence Ely Hunn, The Saugatuck Douglas Historical Society has an archive of her records, including designs, writing, and photo scrapbooks.
