On the downside, the location is isolated and Carambola's dining choices are overpriced and not very good. Their food is average at best. “Wow, Wow and Wow! Breathtaking views, high end opulence in the rooms, the restaurant is one of the best on the island and the staff are the cherry on top. From before our arrival the attention to detail was obvious. We felt like we were in a movie when we arrived. “Manager and staff are friendly and helpful. Great room: nice decor, comfortable bed and linens, nice kitchenette. Could hear street activities but 10p quiet time respected by those outside and inside hotel. They even have a community kitchen w/ a full size oven and stove top, sink, microwave, and full size fridge. They had utensils, pans, and a dish drainer and dust soap, herbs, salt/pepper. “If the photos of the place look good to you then you will love this place. If you own a pair of Birkenstocks and enjoy seeing hummingbirds you will have a great visit. Had a great time at the Inn and went snorkeling right at the bottom of the driveway. We had a room with no AC and just listened to the wildlife all night. Wonderful!”

“The view is spectacular! The ground floor apartment is directly at the oceans edge with a large patio. That being said, there are no lounge chairs and the furniture that they do have is not ocean worthy. They need to upgrade. The apartment itself is good enough as a base but should be scrubbed clean. Pots and pans dirty, shower in spare bathroom was rusting, etc. We needed the electrician, and he came in a day to fix the Stove/Oven. So, two thumbs up for communication. “Had a wonderful week at St. Croix. It was very relaxing, and the rest was needed. The sightseeing is beyond expectations, and I would recommend a visit to the Island anytime...and staying here presents a wonderful view of the island.”

“We spent 8 days on island and this was the perfect home base for the week. It's not fancy, but it has updated amenities, it's clean, comfortable, has everything you need, (including beach chairs, umbrella and beach towels) minutes from Christiansted-but away from the crowds. When we had questions we just texted the owner and she responded within minutes. Definitely recommend if you're on a mid-range budget. It's worth every penny...”

“Host was very gracious. She actually had a car available for rental. Wifi was a little slow. We did not tell the host until departure. She said they could fix.”

“We extended our stay by 2 nights and needed a place to stay. The Mermaid worked out fine for us (could use a new mattress) and the view was amazing! The owner was great and very easy to work with and replied to us right away. We did not enjoy the ride to get up there, but we were warned about it in the description. You do need an SUV to travel up there. Thanks for the stay!”
