“Such a gorgeous little home right on the beach. A mix of modern with quirky antiques and artwork throughout the house. Super comfortable bed, everything was incredibly clean and cosy. “Te Awanga is a great spot from which to explore the best Hawke's Bay has to offer and Kuku Cottage is the ideal place to stay. It is a beautiful old cottage, stunningly finished with plenty of sleeping space and an enclosed backyard with plenty of shade. We had a fabulous time.”

“We loved staying at Pohutukawa cottage. The garden was lovely for an Easter egg hunt, and the kids loved being able to run around. Also loved the stack of firewood as the weather was fairly cold the first couple of evenings. Highly recommended for families - can walk to the ocean and the cycle trails go past the front door (plus you can rent bikes from round the corner if the ones if the shed arae not to your style). All round great stay.”

“Lovely place, clean and tidy, well equipped. If you are not the best sleeper, be aware the fire station is just down the street and the activation alarm can go off often at any time to alert volunteers to come to the station. This is day or night. Over the w/e it went off approx 8 times. However we did get used to it and it just goes off long enough to make sure vols around can hear it, but for those sensitive to loud noise/light sleepers, maybe bring some noise-cancelling ear plugs for……

“We spent three nights there and absolutely loved it. Our experience was fantastic, and we appreciated everything about the place. Although it isn't new, they have done a great job maintaining it. The service was excellent. We originally booked for five people but changed our reservation at the last minute. We informed the staff, so I only paid for the four of us and kept the same family room I booked. It is very convenient and closer to the Splash Planet. I recommend this hotel to anyone……
