Definitely not a 5 star hotel
The hotel really lacked both in service and comfort.
We had booked a suite with a sofa bed to accommodate 3 guests. On arrival, at 3 in the morning, the sofa bed had not been made up and we had to request it.
Hotel decor is dark and old. Corridor on the 9th floor had a particular stench that was overpowering and unpleasant. Frequent smell of sewage in the bathroom.
Staff in general were surly and disinterested, some were really quite smelly. Basic hygiene should be a prerequisite for hotel staff.
Breakfast was poor - limited selection and the juice canisters were frequently empty. Fresh, uncut fruit like apples and pears, was only provided on one day and then disappeared.
Small beach and pool area for the size of the hotel. Hundreds of sun loungers were squashed together which meant you were often a couple of centimetres from a stranger - no privacy or comfort. Beach staff not attentive - empty glasses and bottles were not cleared away.
The area where the hotel is located - JBR - is a nightmare traffic wise. Some taxis refuse to take you there, Ubers cancel, and you need to leave at least 20-25 minutes to just get out of JBR if you have a restaurant reservation elsewhere. The noise of the road - and the super cars reviving their engines - can be heard even from the top floor rooms and it goes on all night.
