I almost want to give 5 stars but I’m in limbo. I’ll explain why:
When we arrived, my daughter’s first question was: “Is the pool open?” The desk clerk replied, “Unfortunately, no.” It was around 9 pm, so I just assumed that the late hour was the reason. —Then we were given our keys and headed to the room. The “hotel” is actually a “motel”. The doors all open— and windows all face— toward the parking lot. We also saw signs that said the pool was “under construction “.
My kid is like a fish. She was dying to swim on this trip, so I started looking around at other hotels in the area. Ultimately, here is what I realized…
The breakfast at this Best Western has a lot of options for families. I’m vegan, so I didn’t have many— but my daughter did, and that was more important. Furthermore, the woman working the breakfast room is just phenomenally kind and attentive. I tipped her each day we stayed and added more on at the end because she was just so nice, caring, and welcoming.
When I started looking at lodging in a similar area, some reviews mentioned mold, some mentioned rude staff… the Best Western’s staff were all kind and helpful, and our room was clean; no mold or mildew.
Parking was never an issue, and we like to walk, so the beach and many other attractions were within a reasonable distance for us. I’m grateful we stayed. (The pool was finally done late on our last night there, and my daughter took a dip before we left in the morning.)
