“We loved our stay here. The property is very clean and well stocked. I really appreciated all the supplies that came with the house, i.e hand soaps, paper towels, etc. Usually small items like these are not provided at rental houses, so this a nice touch for us! We loved the dock and waterviews. It is located in a quiet neighborhood but amenities are close by. If you are looking for a quiet and serene get away this is it! Highly recommend and would 100 percent book again!”

“Partner and I stayed here with our elderly dog for a weekend getaway. The cottage itself is lovely; immaculate and very tastefully decorated. All we needed was provided and then some. Location is rural but a quick drive to amenities and Gloucester Court House's Main Street is a must as is the nearby Nuttall Country Store---the Dean and Deluca of Ware Neck :-) Yorktown and Williamsburg are a short drive down 17S. We enjoyed crabbing off the dock which is adjacent and available to guests of the……

“Just like last year, we enjoyed a fun and sun filled week at Gwynns Island Cottage. We went in early June this year and that provided cooler early mornings but warmed to 80s by midday. Beautiful views of hills bay and had a blast playing on the private beach with our 9yr old. Thanks again Cheri for allowing us to use the cottage!”

“I really dont think that the pictures do this place justice because the house is much more charming in person. I think my favorite part were the beautiful fig trees framing the backyard. The house is gorgeous and the bathrooms are simply luxurious. The kitchen is well appointed and the dishwasher is so fancy that i couldn't figure out how to turn it on. You really don't need to bring anything but your clothes. My only suggestions would be an extra key for guests and to get rid of the old spices……

“This was exactly what we were looking for in our 39 year anniversary getaway. The view from the cottage, sitting by the water and watching the sunrise and sunset was beautiful. The wonderful relaxing in the sun by the pool was perfect. Shopping and dining on Main Street as we came in. Going to YROC for delish food and drinks with water views. You must stop at the Ware Neck Postoffice for a shopping experience of a bygone era. The kitchen is minimal: there is a kuerig and they supply an……

“We loved our stay at Fred’s property. Unfortunately the weather didn’t cooperate enough for us to enjoy the water, but the views and cozy cottage provided a relaxing time away nonetheless. Location was great — off the beaten path but still a quick drive to town.”

“We enjoyed our stay at this river home. There was plenty of room for our family of 6 (2 adults and 4 children.) Our children particularly loved sleeping in the loft/bunk room. The home was clean and it was so relaxing to sit by the water. We loved using the kayaks and fishing off the dock. Only negative was having to take our trash to the town dump… we left very early in the morning because we had a long drive home, and didn’t realize the dump didn’t open until later.”

“We had a very nice relaxing stay at the river. We spent a lot of time outside reading, watching the birds, and listening to the river. There were several very comfortable areas to sit with shade to enjoy the view. When the heat kicked in, we went into the house where the open kitchen, living and dining areas all have wonderful views of the river. “We loved staying at Carlisle's place and the location was beautiful and remote while still close to everything! Our favorite thing to do was sit outside and watch the boats go by. So peaceful. Carlisle was also the most responsive host we've ever had, which I think is a huge plus. FYI: We didn't have phone service while at the Shack (we use Mint Mobile), so I would make plans to prepare for that in case it could be an issue.
