This little unit is great for a quick weekend getaway. We decided last minute to get out of town, and were pleased to see this rental was available. Some things to know:
1) It's down a very steep hill, so make sure you're in a car that can handle it.
2) Parking is down the way from your front door. You'll have to walk your belongings down the gravel path a bit (rolling luggage would be best carried).
3) The unit is attached to the rest of the house, however it has it's own entrance. This wasn't clear in the description. That being said, we didn't see anyone else our entire stay.
4) Legit...water came up to the front of the house during high-tide. This was so cool especially when you're taking a soak in the hot tub!
5) Carpet...carpet everywhere. It's my preference to have anything but in a home that's on the waterfront. Especially a dog friendly home.
6) Smells. If you're sensitive to smells then you may have an issue. The cabinets smelled a bit of mold, and the rest of the place had a manufactured "fresh" smell that could only come from over fragranced laundry detergent and a heavy dosing of Febreeze. We came home smelling of it...my sinuses were very unhappy.
7) The place could use a good deep clean. However great the location, it's hard to get past the grimy windowpanes and trim. The linens, bathroom, and fridge seemed clean though.
Overall, the rental gets a solid 3 stars from my family due to it's availability on short notice, hot tub, and being dog-friendly. The price was a bit much for what it is, however, I feel if some love and updates were put into this unit it would be a great vacation spot to return to. The current state of the rental will push me to look at other places next time we want to visit Whidbey Island.
