I’m really disappointed in my experience at the DoubleTree by Hilton South Charlotte Tyvola. After days of being displaced due to the tragic events in taken place in my home, Asheville, I was extremely relieved to have booked a room here. As we begin to settle in, I noticed ants crawling throughout the room: on the bed, walls, dressers, ground ect. The ants continued to show up all over, so in attempt to request a room change i spoke to Kim/Kimmie at the front desk who was the manager for the night. I was aware the hotel was at full capacity due to many others being in similar situations and the only presented solution was to offer bug spray and have someone “check on it”. Due to my limited options and tiresome few days, I attempted to deal with the ants but they were never ending. I asked Kim/Kimmie if I could just have a refund, she responded with im welcome to check out but I will be unable to receive a refund because there was no housekeeping to clean the room for turn over and I was there for half a day ( after clarifying half a day was 4 hours, it was determined we were there for less than half a day). We also provided videos. The room was barely touched, so my interpretation was the ONLY reason I could not get a refund is because they couldn’t make money off that ONE room for ONE night. Every other employee there was really supportive and emphatic which I appreciate. I left without a refund and drove 3 hours to garner to have a place to sleep.
