I brought three friends from the US for a hut to hut trip in the Dents du Midi and this was our starting point, The Auberge du Grand Paradis had recently been taken over by Kelly and her husband and they are doing a phenomenal job bringing this property back : the facilities are newly renovated and quaint, a typical Swiss chalet with the wonderful smell of wood all around, super clean, in the typical Swiss fashion. Each bedroom has its own private bathroom located in the hallway, not directly in the room, just like any home would be. It truly felt like staying over a friend's house, especially with how friendly the staff and Kelly is. The restaurant has authentic food, with mushrooms picked from the local mountainside. It is located up the road from downtown Champèry ( we walked there in ~ 20 minutes most people drive) and conveniently at the base of the main trailhead. Highly recommended, don't look for any other place if your goal is to have a comfortable place to rest as you prep for your mountain adventures (on foot, horses, or bikes!)
