My stuff has been destroyed by the hotel staff because of a minor booking error the day after my husband’s funeral, which I had driven to Massachusetts for following his death in Florida. I accidentally extended my stay for tomorrow instead of today.
The only attempt made to reach me was at 2:19-2:20pm I received three calls in less than two minutes from a hotel phone number and when I called back, the number was answered by the Holiday Inn, not the Motel 6. I had stayed at a Holiday Inn driving here from Florida, to bury my husband who died at 32 in a motorcycle accident following a month in the ICU, and I thought that maybe it was a mistaken call.
I arrived, exhausted and hearbroken at 4:15pm was told that despite their almost nonexistent existent attempt to contact and no voicemail or text, the staff - two cleaning women and a man at the desk - that I my stuff had been packed and locked in a closet.
I frantically changed the reservation and paid, and the male staff member was extremely rude to me. As I am sure was recorded on the hotel cameras, I showed him the missed cane dialed back to show him what happened. He refused to bring my stuff to the room. They said it was necessary for housekeeping but the room was dirty when I entered and a woman had just started cleaning it. She laughed at me.
Another cleaning woman then arrived and proceeded to criticize and tell me it was my fault and laugh at me. She left and I was was unable to get my belongings for over and hour.
