During storm Darragh - freezing cold weather & gale force wind, I paid over £200 for a room with zero heat. Broken thermostat, a tiny radiator (that was pointless), and a super thin summer duvet. I called front desk around 6 times with no answer. I had to go down and see the front desk to ask for blankets and heat which were provided about an hour later. Even with these additions and being fully dressed (with socks on), I was absolutely freezing in bed. I’ve subsequently developed a bad cold.
In addition, the room smelled bad, had stains all over the carpet and a dirty bath. Hotel staff advised me to claim a refund via Expedia who I booked the room through.
I’ve contacted Expedia (over an hour in phone calls so far plus several emails), only for the hotel to delay their authorisation of my full refund.
Update - after my third call to Expedia, the hotel are now refusing to refund the room even partially due to their “no refund policy - no exceptions”. How lovely. So you can pay over £200 for a freezing cold and dirty room and they are happy to take your money for it. Nice. It’s a good job I’m not elderly or immunocompromised, as that room would have finished me off otherwise.
I have photos of the carpet/bath/ thermostat/radiator but no one seems bothered in seeing them. Who cares eh, “no exceptions”.
I did enjoy breakfast which I paid an additional £17.95 for. I needed something substantial after the night of borderline hypothermia.
Can someone please issue my refund.
