I admit to booking and pre-paying for The Grand Hotel - Birmingham for an incorrect date but when I arrived at the hotel and explained the mistake, the concierge/front desk staff simply said "sorry you booked the wrong date there's nothing we can do, if we had a room available we would be able to do something to help you, but we dont"
I immediately sat down in the front reception frantically looking for an alternative hotel as it was nearly midnight and found I could actually book my exact room in The Grand (on the exact same night I arrived) if I paid an excess of £250 per night (of which I required 2 nights stay)
Atleast if they had said "we just dont want to help you" I wouldve left upset but with the truth. They let me down, as the room was pre-paid for so the cost obviously wasnt the issue, they just wanted me to feel humiliated infront of other guests, but also lied about it which made me feel even worse than just tired & frustrated after travelling from London for work and reading how great they treat their guests.
First and last time I'd consider staying in The Grand Hotel - Birmingham as I still have to pick up the bill for the 2 nights I didnt stay in the hotel, they didnt even offer to re-emburse or cancel the room stay
