Disappointing Stay with Unexpected Charges – Beware!
I recently stayed at Tandem Hotel in Lisbon, and my experience was highly disappointing due to misleading charges and poor customer service.
I booked and paid $148 in advance through Expedia, assuming that was the full cost of my stay. However, upon arrival, the front desk agent informed me that I owed additional taxes, which I expected. But then he claimed that Expedia had not charged me for the room at all and insisted I pay $112 directly to the hotel. Caught off guard, I provided my card.
Later, I discovered I had been charged twice—once by Expedia for $148 and again by Tandem for $112. This was never disclosed upfront, and had I known, I would have never stayed there.
Upon returning to the U.S., I realized there was no way to dispute the charge directly with the hotel, making this even more frustrating.
