I booked a 3-night stay at Vagia Traditional Hotel through Expedia and reached out to the hotel directly to confirm my reservation. The owner, who is part of the family that owns the hotel, confirmed our booking just three days before our arrival.
However, while we were on a ferry to Aegina, just an hour before our arrival, I received an email from the hotel (sent by the Hotel’s manager and owner) stating, “There is a problem with a small infestation in the room, and it will be unusable for the next 3 days.” How convenient—just one hour before our arrival, a single room is suddenly affected, and the treatment will take exactly 3 days.
I know this was a lie, and the entire story was fabricated to cancel my reservation. I believe the real reason for the cancellation was greed.
Without consulting us, the owner took it upon themselves to book us into a different hotel in a different town, claiming it was a better option because it had a pool. Imagine booking a hotel in the heart of Athens, in Plaka, and then finding yourself in Pangrati. While Pangrati is a nice neighborhood, it’s not what you chose. It’s incredibly rude and presumptuous to decide for your customers what’s best for them.
I wouldn’t trust this hotel or its management with anything. Who knows if they properly clean the rooms or use quality ingredients in their meals? Establishments like this don’t last. I strongly advise staying away from this hotel and its management.
