First of all, let me say that Five Zürich is a beautiful hotel with a fantastic and friendly staff! The service here is top-notch, and everyone goes out of their way to help and ensure your stay is comfortable. The main building is stylish, modern, and luxurious, making it a pleasant place to unwind.
However, a word of caution for those booking a cheaper room: if you reserve one of the more affordable options, be aware that it’s not in the same building as the main hotel. The room will be in what they call the "east wing," but in reality, it’s a separate building that you need to access via a somewhat eerie tunnel. You have to walk about 150-200 meters, which can feel a bit unsettling, especially late at night. The building used to be an apartment complex and has been converted into hotel rooms. While this may sound quirky, it’s not the most ideal setup.
Our room in the east wing lacked basic things like windows that open, and it had a lingering smell of cigarettes. The place felt a bit like an afterthought, especially with so many conference-goers coming and going. Honestly, we couldn’t spend the night there. The room was just not up to the standard we were expecting. When we approached the front desk, the staff was incredibly understanding and offered to upgrade us to a room in the main building right away. They even gave us a discount for the inconvenience, which we really appreciated. The upgraded room was exactly what we had hoped for!
