"A very clean, nicely furnished and well-equipped little house with a sunny terrace. It's In a good, fairly central location, near the Santa Caterina gardens, with bus stops very close by. Hostess Rosa was warmly welcoming - and she very kindly taxied us to and from the airport"

"Love Madeira and the place is in a great location. Unfortunatley, after booking our non-refundable five-night stay we were charged an additional $140 for an "additional guest fee". Even though the Vrbo is listed for four guests, he charged us an addition $140 because we had three total guests and the base rate price is only for two guests. Good luck if you have any more than two guests because you will be charged almost double for your stay and will not be able to cancel after you booked it."

"I enjoyed my stay at Zarco very much. The room was very comfortable and renovated with beautiful linens and a great bathroom. The staff was exceptionally helpful and friendly. The breakfast buffet is outstanding with pastries, fruit, eggs, deli meats and cheeses and excellent juice and coffee. It’s also very well located walking distance to the historic area, the marina and beach promenade and great cafes and shopping. My only complaint is the street noise since my room overlooked the busy square below with a cafe open until 2:00am and lots of noisy people. I would happily stay there again but ask for an interior room. Be aware that you have to walk up 16 stairs to enter the reception area. I was lucky that some charming guests helped carry my large rolling suitcase up the stairs! Overall an excellent value and charming place to stay in Madeira."

Pestana Carlton Madeira Ocean Resort Hotel

"The hotel is in a great location, with a walkable area and a lot of restaurants around it. We stayed in a room with pool view and were actually able to walk out the room and go straight to the pool. There also was an ocean view from our room, although we never got down to the beach. The staff was friendly and all the amenities were fine. Free parking was limited, especially since it was also being used by the locals. "
