Beautiful resort with memorable shows, quick access to the beach and fantastic staff. A huge shoutout to Gorita who made our check-in smooth and our stay wonderful as well as Denise, Fernando, Anahi and Victor for making our stay at Barcelo such a great time! They were all incredibly kind, friendly and went above and beyond to make sure everyone was having fun. The craft activities like jewelry and keychain making were a highlight thanks to their energy and support. Truly an amazing group that made the experience even more special!

The room was AMAZING!! So spacious, super night, great blackout curtains, ceiling fans, and an awesome view!! The shower was glorious. It was one of my favorite rooms I’ve ever stayed in! The amenities are really good - 4-5 pools, good restaurant choices, the “special” dinner are delicious- the steak place- WOW and right on the water!! Good buffets overall. Only major downside is no real gourmet coffee. Major bummer. Otherwise- clean property. Beautiful. Well kept! The excursion we chose was not worth it though. We paid $99 per person to do a boat trip to two other private beaches, a “hike” but it did end well! There was a lot of down time and a lack of communication. We’d have chosen something else next time. Still awesome to be on the water though.

The resort is outdated and there are obvious signs of disrepair. For example, the water features at the entrance to the resort and into the pool are no longer working, and cosmetic damage to rooms are not repaired. While the beach is safer and quieter because its tucked away in a cove, this also means there is limited walking, especially with the construction to the seawall, and the cove is full of tour boats. The resort puts zero effort into beach experience. For example, staff do not service the beach loungers, which are also in the shade for most of the day. The buffet food is ok most of the time. But you often get sat at a table that has to be cleaned or is partially set. It can take awhile for staff to ask if you'd like a drink. Italian restaurant has decent food and good service. Japanese restaurant has horrible sushi rolls and poor service. The surf & turf restaurant is considered the best. There is no disco at this resort. It has a bar with limited and uncomfortable wrought iron seating that is usually filled with people watching sports. There is only one swim-up bar and its in the main pool along with the organized recreational activities. This also means there is constant noise from staff speaking into a microphone, which is far from relaxing. The main pool is mostly in shade all day. Adult pool is quieter if you go to the far side. But there is also a smoking area here, which ruins the experience of this side of the pool and the hammocks.

The room was huge and we had a great view of the ocean and mountains from our 9th floor balcony. Staff were excellent and attentive. The restaurants were great. The buffet had way too much to choose from. Only 2 things made this good instead of great. The coffee at the breakfast buffet was horrible and the wine was terrible. Stick to the prosecco. Mixed drinks get 2 thumbs up. Evening shows were hit and miss.

Absolutely one of the best resorts in the PV area. Not overly busy. Food is pretty plain/generic with very little taste. Oscar was by far the best waiter/server in the entire resort. The lady that runs the entertainment around the pool is very load when talking into the mic, it comes over the speaker system like she is screaming. But this resort is amazing. I gave it a 4 star just because of the screaming coming from the speakers when she talked, but the rest of the resort Is a 5 star all day

The staff was amazing! Very friendly! Samuel a server at the buffet totally made our stay! Alfredo and Juan and the swim up bar very friendly, Victor and the other pool side entertainment staff were fantastic! Very entertaining, and great at getting people involved. I want to send a special thank you to Edmund, we encountered him in many places at the resort, his personality and happy energy was contagious. He always had a smile on his face, was very eager to have conversations and worked so very hard! All in all the resort was pleasant. The room was decent, had a few minor issues but absolutely nothing that all in all affected our experience and therefore not worth mentioning. We loved that the resort was on the smaller size, the food selections were still lovely and we didn't have to hike 10 miles from our room every day. The pools were perfect. Beach was nice. It was very nice to be able to leave the resort without having to get on a bus to do so. It was like stepping into another world, we found a nice restaurant up the hill in the town, had the best fajitas we have ever had! Found a lovely locally owned store for some souvenirs and everyone we encountered were very friendly. My honest to goodness only negative about the whole experience was the coffee, very very terrible. I would suggest bringing your own if possible.

We really enjoyed the hotel’s amenities (pools, beach access, activities) and the hotel itself was very nice and clean. The food was a bit underwhelming. We were hoping to enjoy more authentic Mexican food but the on-site food options seemed more catered to what travelers might naturally enjoy at home (ie, American food, Italian food, sushi, pizza and French fries).

Everything was excellent other than 3 out of the 4 of us were sick several times in the 10 days there. No doubt a food issue at resort as we never ate anywhere else and drank only bottled water.

The room size was fine. The property is older as in 1980’s older. Pool area is maintained. The property appears to be short staffed. This is listed as a luxury resort which is false. The food is literally the worst I have ever had in a resort. No flavor, cold, lots of goulash’s, food that tasted like it came out of a middle school cafeteria. Several taxi drivers laughed and said “, no no you don’t eat there”. The beach is extremely limited in size . Since there are many smaller boats in the bay, it’s not a place with a pretty beach. The one area that was populated was on an embankment so it was hard to sit in a lounge as it was pointed downward at an angle. Two of the most important features bombed at this resort which is quite a distance from anything. So walking is not a possibility. Please do no waste your hard earned money.
