Sweet Porto apartment is a relatively economical, not fancy but fully functional apartment hotel. I stayed there for 6 nights in May.
It has many pluses. It's location is excellent, within walking distance to all attractions. The Bahoa Market is across the street. A Portugal supermarket chain store, a pharmacy and a bakery are nearby. The kitchen is well equipped to cook a simple meal.
The biggest minus is the lack of service and its absolute refusal to provide any service after check in. There is no front desk, guests communicate with the management team about expected arrival time initially through Expedia message, the platform I booked the hotel. This is perfectly okay. After having connected with them, they wanted me to communicate through WhatsApp. A team member waited for me and my husband and I at the specified arrival time at the apartment. The representative charged our credit and gave us the apartment key and a Porto map. When I asked what I should do if I need more toilet paper and kitchen trash bags, I get the totally unexpected reply of "you buy them at the supermarket yourself". When I wanted to ask more questions, the representative said she needed to leave. I later followed up about replenishment of trash bags through WhatsApp, my message was read but no reply. It is a total disappointment.
Even though Sweet Porto is an economical no fanfare apartment hotel, I do expect management provides the basic necessary supplies.
