I’ve stayed at Danfords a few times in the past, as it is pretty much a “must stay” place in the village of Port Jefferson and the location is unbeatable. Our room (E2) was quite noisy, both from the street and from people walking along the balcony outside our room talking loudly, but I don’t think there’s much you can do about that, other than request to stay in a different part of the hotel.
The room itself was nice enough, but the side of the room where the TV/fridge and coffee maker are had no lighting and the lighting in the room overall was very poor. The bathroom was small but nice, but the sink top area is way too small and there is no room anywhere else to put your toiletries. Shower flow was very hard, using way too much water per minute-definitely not ecofriendly. The beds were hard.
Although there was a coffee station in the hotel lobby, it was disappointing that this was one of the few hotels with no breakfast. Fortunately there are some places close by where you can get breakfast, but for the price of this hotel, it should be included.
There was an extra “resort fee” of $33.10 payable at hotel (we didn’t have this at other hotels), which includes things that are already free at most other hotels (internet, coffee maker in room, bottled water in room, 800 and local calls (not really needed anyway when everyone uses cellphones!), use of business center (not needed by non-business travelers), parking and TV (although the free TV channels were very few).
