This hotel is the Bomb..from the moment you walk in you feel welcome by the staff.. At any given time ( 24hrs ) you can drink and eat all the bottle water, coffee, hot tea, cookies, chips, and guava fruit as a compliment, also the new section of the hotel is built on top of the ruins of the Templo Mayor ( Main Temple ) Tenochtitlan.....Part of the hallway floor is made up of glass, so you can see part of the ruins as you walk on it. And the best part of it is that the hotel is located right behind the Cathedral like a hunndred yards from the Zocalo...and I'll give the rooms 5 stars cause is clean and there's is plenty of room in the shower for big people.

Great Hotel for first time visitors interested in historic district. Great location immediately behind the Cathederal and a few hundred yards from main plaza, Zocalo. While Id estimate the orginal building is over a hundred years old, it has effectively been rebuilt on the inside during exstentive refurbishment. Feels like a new hotel inside, but with remains of Aztec temple visible in lobby. Our group had one suite and one bed room in the Catedral tower, both were modern and comfortable. Staff were excellent, friendly and helpful. The resturant food and breakfasts were good quality. There are historic, cultural, restaurant and shopping options within walking distance. As you are so close to Zocalo, will immediate access to all the activities there, you will also be able to here them too, eg druming and music accompaining dancing, speeches and cheering if there is a rally. It was generally quiet at night (10pm onward) but if you are early to bed or very sensitive to noise may be factor. There are modern hotels in other districts we considered but are very happy we choose Hotel Caredral and would choose it again
