Our stay at the Wake hotel was a mixed experience. On the positive side, the hotel is aesthetically pleasing, well-located, and within walking distance to many attractions, making it convenient for exploring the city. The city was safe. Upon arrival customer service were well accommodating. The hotel helped with services to decorate the room, they were very detailed when checking in.
However, several issues detracted from the experience:
• The toilet had a stain upon arrival, and there were no washcloths provided.
• The couch was visibly dirty with questionable stains.
• The air conditioning didn’t work initially but was temporarily fixed.
• Restrictions like no guests, no loud noise, and limitations on Jacuzzi use (it must stay on all day to work) were inconvenient.
• Housekeeping wasn’t included; you had to pay for it separately.
• The amenities were often unavailable due to fitness classes, and the shampoo/body wash seemed watered down.
• The remote controls were non-functional, and some lightbulbs were out in the room.
• Loud music and noise in the mornings made it difficult to relax.
Customer service was inconsistent. For example, the front desk staff left the post during breakfast, leaving valet staff to assist guests. Our card to get in our rooms stopped working.
Despite these challenges, the hotel’s design and location are its redeeming factors. With improved attention to cleanliness, maintenance and guest services it could be a much better experience.
