This property is outdated. It smells funny. The bathrooms have mold and are dirty. The bed feels like you're sleeping on a sleeper sofa and the linens are thin and terrible. The pillows are the size of throw pillows. They had a dehumidifier running in the unit and it was clearly trying to combat a mildew issue. I would never stay at this property ever again.

Check in was bad. We waited until after 4 to get in room and they were still finishing cleaning our room at a bad location in the lower level. Elevator near the room is not working. The hotel is in a good location near Sonesta Hotel and Sunset bar in the Maho area.

This resort is a sister property to Royal Islander La Plage across the street and you will likely wish you had booked there instead. While La Terrasse has a beautiful pool onsite, a lovely roof garden, and a convenient parking garage, the minimal communication from and availability of staff, coupled with the restrictiveness of the supposedly “shared amenities” of La Plage, was frustrating to navigate. No one explained anything to us at check-in about room cleaning, towel availability or pool or parking location. Thank goodness for the patient Security staff, who helped with luggage, towels, directions and even check-out, as no one was at the front desk a good share of the day and the call number the sign at the front desk referred us to was only sporadically staffed. The pool bar is rarely open either. The people at La Plage explained what the La Terrasse staff did not — but made sure to tell us that only the small beach area at the bottom of their guests’ beach access stairs was available to us. (And you better have your towels set up on beach chairs before 8 AM …) Activity plan info is only there. This resort is ideal for travelers who are as interested in nightlife and the casino as the are in the beach — Maho village is a busy, energetic place from dawn til way past dusk, and the planes from the right-there airport and the traffic on what is a main island road add to that. Restaurants and cafes are convenient but a relaxing “get away from it all” is not Maho Village.

We had a 2 day stop over here and it covered everything we needed. So close to airport. Great view from our room of the runaway and was able to watch incoming flights over Maho beach. Great location.

I would caution people from booking here. The pictures don't necessarily match the property. The rooms are very outdated and it is definitely more so a timeshare than a hotel. It seems like the other Royal Islander may be a little better? But I would caution that as well. I was booking last minute and there were limited options. I informed the staff of a mildew smell and the toilet water being brown when I arrived. Nothing was done. Then I informed them that neither of the TVs worked, that was never fixed. No communication, nothing. I was letting someone else at the desk know about it and they said I should speak to the manager. I walked over to her office, she was very nice and apologetic. She also called over and instructed them to go to the room now and figure it out. She indicated she was not made aware of anything. I thought I would be offered some sort of compensation but I didn't. She did offer for me to come back and use the pool at the other location but I politely told her I didn't think I would be returning to these properties. As I came back over from the manager's office, I could hear staff talking about my complaints then they realized I was the person and stopped speaking. When I was completing my check out the front desk associate told me I owed them $25 for parking. I was shocked because she's the one who took me to see the manager. She refused to take the charge off and I asked her to call the manager and she immediately said comp it. Won't be back.

Televisions were not working as no tv stations on both tv’s displayed connection issue error message. I told the front desk after I checked in. They sent a janitor to the room & had no idea how to fix it. I asked for a different room & they would not do it.

Très grande piscine très propre. Vaste espace agréable avec chaises longues et parasols. Idéal pour regarder les avions atterrirent et décoller : super après-midi avec les enfants.
