We had a pleasant and comfortable stay at The Standard! It's a very fun property full of friendly staff members, and it's clear that they prioritize hip vibes (e.g., kitschy decor, lots of on site drinks & bites, great events, etc.) over all else. The location near King's Cross is unbeatable. The tube and bus are a stone's throw from the front door, and cool spots like Coal Drops Yard and the British Museum are an easy walk. We were also fortunate enough to check out Decimo and the New Year's Eve party, and they definitely did not disappoint!
One thing worth noting is that, for a hotel of its caliber, it seems to be lacking in some pretty basic amenities. Our room, which was a Standard King, didn't have much storage space; there was no closet and, despite there being several drawers, only one of them was actually empty (the rest were occupied by random things like cocktail shakers and cutting boards?). On a more granular level, they also didn't have many electrical outlets, and there wasn't a towel bar for the hand towel in the restroom. None of these were huge issues at all, just strange oversights to see in a place of such high esteem.
Those few quirks aside, it's a great place to stay and we had a fantastic time!
