Our cottage feel like apartment is based in Labastide-Rouairoux which is an extremely peaceful and charming village in the black mountains, on the border of the Tarn, the Hérault and the Aude regions. It is part of a protected natural regional park. Surrounded by beautiful landscapes, many lakes and places of beauty and interest. Labastide-Rouairoux is a village, which up to 30 years ago was thriving on its textile industry. It has a museum to remember those wonderful years and every year around the 15th August, it has an event called “La Fête du Fil” to commemorate the days gone by.
From June to October, there are numerous events going on in Labastide and its surrounding areas. Our village is wonderful for trekking and mountain biking. There are plenty of walks and cycling to do as well. Especially along the "voie verte".
Near us, there are 6 big lakes which offer walks, activities like swimming, pedaling, little motor boats, paddling, water bouncy castle, mini golf and accrobranching. Some lakes are full of activities and restaurants and some are just wild and surrounded by nature.
If you enjoy visiting places, there is plenty to see from Museums (textile, painting, chocolate, prehistoric times etc.) to castles, cathedrals, middle-age villages, walks around beautiful lakes, vine routes and the vines chateaux etc.
You can also visit the very famous Gorge Du Tarn whilst kayaking. If you revel in sporting activities, there are many more available, climbing for example. Plus extensive child friendly activities. However, if you would prefer just to relax, there are gorges and lakes to unwind and take some time out or perhaps go for a refreshing swim in the crystal clear waters.
In october, there's the very famous "festival du film documentaires" which attracts more and more people every year.
Labastide-Rouairoux is also a heaven for trekkers and mountain biking with many treks around the village, plus many more in the surrounding villages. For people who love to simply walk or cycle, the “Voie Verte” is a wonderful place to walk, cycle and relax on. It's an old train track which has been transformed into an exclusive route for walkers, cyclists and horses. It stretches for many miles, all the way from Mazamet to Bédarieux.
You can go trout fishing without a license in Fraïsse sur Agout, a beautilful village in the mountains.
So, come and enjoy a relaxing time to the sound of the river running alongside our simple but clean and comfortable holiday apartment.
In the colder month, the flat is heated by a pellet burner situated in the living room.
