"Staff were very friendly and helpful - couldn’t have asked for more. The actual hotel is very clean and well kept. However, it is almost split in half in terms of renovation / comfort - both for the rooms and communal areas. Overall comfortable and nice, but could be better for the price point. The half board buffet was a little disappointing in terms of range / quality, but the restaurant staff were very kind. Would go back, but probably wouldn’t take the half board option next time. "

"All inclusive is worth it. Enjoyed the spa services as well - a little overpriced in my opinion but you will still enjoy it. Accommodations were clean and housekeeping was responsive. Had an issue with the staff not being culturally humble when I arrived and there was a misunderstanding that was offensive to me and was difficult to approach them after. "

"As we checked in we were given a room with non functional AC and stains on the sheets. Smelled like old. At the second day we were changed in a better room with much better AC and better cleansed. Rooms are generally very small and bathrooms are unusual tight. Food was excellent and more than enough. "

"The hotel itself is lovely, very modern, impeccably clean. W loved the little private beach as the sea was a perfect temperature! The only negative is every day between 12-3pm a DJ plays banging “Ibiza tunes” and you cant get away from it. "Overall this was a nice stay, the hotel has been designed and built very well. It's built on the side of a hill and as such, the higher you go, the better the view. The view over Ierapetra city at night is amazing. The only comment on the room is that the lighting could do with being better at the bathroom mirror and the wardrobe needs more shelves / drawers. We got a warm welcome on check in but rarely got a welcome at other times. Often no acknowledgement of arriving for breakfast or dinner....

"Our holiday in the Villa met all our high expectations. The Villa has superb accommodation and outside areas and facilities. The Management Company looked after a couple of issues which arose, including loss of hot water, very quickly. Makry Gialos is a fantastic and authentic resort, away from the tourist hot spots. So nice, I fear its secret will be out soon and it will grow and lose some of its charm. I recommend you get to it now! Martyn, Shirley & family. "

"What a beautiful retreat! This was such an amazing place with wonderful staff. Everything was gorgeous, the food was delicious, the atmosphere was incredible. Watching the sunset with a glass of wine at dinner was my favorite part of my Greece trip so far. I’m in love with the place and can’t wait to come back.
