A comfortable, modern holiday house with mountain views in a quiet cul-de-sac on the peninsula, between South Bay and the town side. It's away from the hustle and bustle of the town side, & yet only a short drive to anywhere in Kaikoura.
We have most conveniences, a great kitchen, comfy beds & furniture, free WIFI, 2 decks & plenty of off-street parking.
This is a large house, with the front and back (each 3 bedrooms), connected by a shared laundry. We have a separate listing for just the front half of the house if you are looking for something smaller. This listing is for the whole house.
We have built a large 6 bedroom house, that is separated into front and rear units. Each has 3 bedrooms. It was completed at the end of 2021.
The two units are separated by a garage, and connected by a shared laundry that runs behind the garage. This listing is for the entire 6 bedroom house. We also own another house at No 6 that we similarly rent out.
The entrance to each unit is via front decks with wide eaves providing shelter. Internally you can access the other unit through the shared laundry.
Each unit has a central living space, combining kitchen (or kitchenette), dining & lounge. The front unit kitchen features an oven, electric hob, extraction fan, dishwasher, fridge/freezer & microwave. It has an island with granite top that's the ideal social center while preparing food. The rear unit has a kitchenette that includes microwave, fridge/freezer and dishwasher.
Each unit has a leather couch (3+2), large smart TV (65" & 55") and a dining table that seats 6.
Bedroom 1 is the master for the front unit. It has an ensuite, a super-king bed and features a sliding door onto the deck.
Bedroom 2 has a split super-king bed. It can be made up as a super-king, or 2 single beds. If you have a preference for this, be sure to tell us.
Bedroom 3 has a king sized bed.
Bedroom 4 is the master for the rear unit and features a sliding door onto the deck.
Bedroom 5 has a split super-king bed. It can be made up as a super-king, or 2 single beds. If you have a preference for this, be sure to tell us.
Bedroom 6 has a queen bed.
All bedrooms have built-in wardrobes.
The front unit has 2 bathrooms - the main one, and a private ensuite attached to the master bedroom. The rear unit has one bathroom.
In the shared laundry we a washing machine and a clothes dryer.
You won't normally have access to the garage, but if you are planning to go fishing, do let me know. I can give you the access code so you can use the fridge & freezer in the garage. We don't provide parking for cars in the garage, though there is plenty of parking around the house.

There is a long drive that runs up the side of the house. There is also a small loop that runs from one side to the other in front of the house.
We also own the mostly empty section next door. You are welcome to park on it provided the ground isn't too soft (unlikely to be a concern in the summer). This is a great place to park boats, and for children to play. Note that any guests staying at No 6 will be getting the same advice, so you may need to share.
It's worth noting that there are some shipping containers at the rear of this section. One is mine, and the others belong to our neighbour, who owns Hunting & Fishing. You may see people access these containers occasionally.
And naturally there's parking on the street.
I probably won’t be around in person, although I might come and stay at No 6, and mostly on weekends.
Generally if I am around, apart from introducing myself, you'll hardly know I'm there.
We are located almost at the end of the peninsula, up top. There's no through traffic, so it's lovely & quiet. That also makes it very safe for children. It's within walking distance to the beach, the peninsula walkways, the seal colony & 5 minutes drive from the town centre.
You really need to have a car to get around Kaikoura - while we are within walking distance of town, it is fairly far, with a bit of a hike uphill coming home. We have heaps of off-road parking for cars and boats.
