"I’ve stayed at many ryokan in different parts of Japan; Yukairou Kikuya is by far the best. Not only does it have flawless service, beautiful rooms and superb food, but it has famously beneficial onsen water in baths that range from in-room to private to a larger “public” one that I nevertheless had all to my self. The baths are often outdoors in private gardens, which enhances the experience. I also had a shiatsu massage that ranks among the best of my life. I can’t recommend Kikuya highly enough, and can’t wait to return."

"Amazing and beautiful hotel. We got the Mt.Fuji view but didn’t get to see it because it was cloudy and rainy when we stayed. The dinner was not what I had expected for the price we paid. But the breakfast buffet was worth it and much better! I will stay there again for the private onsen and golf course in the future. Shared public Amenties with the Marriott which we had no idea but good to know in the future. The shuttle bus was convenient. "

"Oni no sumika is a beautiful ryokan tucked away in Shuzenji. The staff are all extremely kind and accommodating (they do not speak English, so google translator is a must if you’re foreign and they are quick to use it) The traditional breakfast was great, with many small dishes that leave you satisfied but not full to start your day. If I am in shuzenji again I will be staying here."

"The facilities were dated, which I knew going in. But I wasn’t prepared for the level of decline: none of the restaurants/bars were open (permanently, it seems), the front desk was hardly staffed, the lobby wasn’t an inviting place to spend time. The room was clean and comfortable, as was the onsen (hot spring bath). But no meals was unexpected & a bit inconvenient. My reservation supposedly included breakfast, but I was told “no food” by the front desk (and I do speak Japanese, confirmed the food situation.) We made do with the nearby convenience store and found a local place for dinner that turned out to be great. For the price, the onsen experience was worth it, but we had to adjust our expectations. "

"Nice secluded spot next to a river. You kinda need a car, though they do offer shuttle service from I don’t know where. I think it’s good for families since they have a game room with ping pong and karaoke and pet friendly. I had a Japanese room which overlooked the river! The futons were wayyyy too thin and my back paid for it. There nothing around it so opt for the meal plans. Dinners were okay mainly Japanese style. The breaky is early but the checkout at 11 makes up for it. Main problem is that the inside looks a bit shabby in places and it’s a shame they don’t fix the holes in the roof and such. Overall good value."
