If you’re a backpacker looking for an affordable, comfortable place to stay, this hostel is ideal. It’s cheap, but you don’t have to sacrifice cleanliness — it’s owned by a lovely Filipino couple who really take pride in keeping the place spotless. The hosts are super easy to talk to and always ready to help out. They’re so generous and make you feel right at home. I’ve stayed for a night last week and I’m definitely coming back today for the 4th of July! Highly recommended for anyone who wants a budget-friendly, welcoming place to stay.

While area is lovely and the home is very nicely decorated and appointed, I found it difficult to move about the space freely with all the door and locker codes, contant removing of outdoor shoes and the owners constantly in both common areas (living rm and kitchen) made me feel uncomfortable. There are too many bunks in the female dorm; not enough space for luggage and the room gets very hot at night. No alcohol permitted on premises and the coffee is undrinkable. There were issues with the hot water as well. Good for a short stay only.

Cathy and Husband are very friendly and efficient. Bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, and living room very clean and orderly. Love the rainfall shower and big hotel towels. Internet was great. Big refrigerator and it was very clean. The comforter and the unique wash clothes were very nice. Location is excellent. Big combo locker and very nice power strip with great lamp. Very much like home away from home. Great job guys.

5 Star Hostel in Mid-Town Houston

MyCrib is a very clean modern hostel conveniently located in Midtown Houston. The amenities were top-notch and similar to what might find at much higher price elsewhere. The kitchen, with a variety of food items for a DIY breakfast was spotless as were the bath and sleeping areas. One could not ask for more gracious and kind hosts as Cathy and Harold. There is also a very comfortable and cozy living area. Staying at a hostel is a great way to meet fellow travelers and I enjoyed talking with them at breakfast on Saturday morning. I am hopeful I will have the opportunity to stay at MyCrib Houston Hostel in the near future.

3rd time with these guys and once again excellent stay. The dorm room, bathroom, and kitchen were very clean and orderly. Their place is more like love for the guests. Cathy went above to helped me with late check-in. Loved the bed comforter, lamp, power strip, and nice big hotel towel. Bedroom also have privacy curtains and I love the combo storage locker. The bathroom has lovely rain shower, very nice unique wash clothes, bath gel, and other gels. Kitchen frid was big, and clean. Some good food and snacks options for reasonable prices. Free breakfast cereal (frosted, honey gram, and Cheerios) and fresh milk. Looking forward to my next stay. I say they provide love and not just a service.

This is a 3-4 bedroom lovely, modern home with 2-3 sets of bunk beds in the bedrooms. Lockers were appreciated, but the personal space between bunks to use the locker, or pack, or get dressed was inconvenient/uncomfortable. As usual, at peak times there was a wait for the bathroom. 3 full baths for potentially 18 people.

The host was quite intrusive and questioned me constantly about my work which I did not care to discuss. The host also sent nasty and threatening messages when all my dialogue was kind and polite and I raised my concerns.

Hostel in Houston with Herold!

This is the best deal in town! I was gonna book a hotel in Downtown until I found this little gem in Midtown. With great reviews, I could not resist this deal! From the time I booked it, I was not wrong at all. I was stuck in SFO and told Herold about my delayed flight and he helped me out with the check in immediately via text. I arrived past midnight and I found it easy to get in. Of course, they were not there to help me as they live else where but the instructions were clear enough to enter without any receptionists. THE BEDS & BATH The property is super new! The locks were rough but the female dorm was clean &the mattress was amazing for a hostel~ The best part is the pretty white bathroom which had such a big sink and many drawers we could use. Not to mention it had such thick Kirkland bathroom rolls, the way I liked it. The towel was also thick and fluffy like hotel towels. I was impressed. THE BREAKFAST, DINING & KITCHEN Breakfast was good for a hostel. We had milk and a wide selection of Stash tea & there's a cute coffee machine as well. As the property is new, we got new cutlery and cups and kitchen appliances too. I loved hanging out at the kitchen/dining area as there was just so much fun and banter with the guests and the hosts too! Herold even matched me to another guest so we could travel down to the Space Center via Uber together and save money. This center is well worth the trip! OVERALL A HIDDEN GEM I will be back. Thank you Herold & Cathy!
