I arrived an hour before check in and asked the host if we could possibly check in early. I was told no, they were still cleaning the room. We proceeded to wait in the car for the hour where we had full view of the staff moving from room to room on all three floors prepping rooms. When 3pm hit, I checked in, received keys to a room that had not been actively cleaned while we were waiting- we happened to parked right in front of it- no one had come in or out. I don't think this room had been opened in weeks. The grout work had recently (?) been re-done in the bathroom- all of the old grout strips were shoved into the tiny wastebasket, along with some broken grout tools, dirt and dust covered the floor and there were two blades from the grout stripper on the bathroom floor. When I woke up the second morning I turned to the bedside table to see baby cockroaches running across the top. When I turned the lights on, they scattered, It was absolutely disgusting. The prices were absolutely being gouged due to Comicon being in town- there was absolutely no one attending comicon staying at this motel. A complete joke. This is why the hotel industry is failing hard and Air BnB is destroying local housing ordinances.
