We celebrated our 30th Wedding Anniversary in Charleston and stayed at 20 South Battery! It’s a lovely, historic home/Boutique Hotel Bed & Breakfast! The location along the battery is so beautiful. We had let them know prior that we’d be celebrating our 30th and they did greet us with two glasses of Prosecco and a card in our room, which was nice!
We stayed in a carriage house room. It was quiet and nice enough. However, I would recommend spending a little more for a room to stay in the actual home. Carriage House although nicely decorated, quiet and extremely comfortable had a bit of a motel feel since attached to home in back.
It was wonderful to order breakfast via card prior to 7pm every night to have delivered every am to room. Initially our room wasn’t cleaned and I was disappointed, but realized I had missed seeing the card that needed to be placed on the bed for room cleaning. It was cleaned when card placed on bed.
We never made it to the nightly wine & cheese reception as we were always exploring the city! We did tour the home and recommend doing so. I believe there are daily tours at 11am. There’s so much history there and it’s been beautifully restored! It’s a gorgeous mansion that truly takes you back in time.
Overall, we had a lovely stay & the staff were all wonderful! In order to get to dining and shopping you walk quaint, old historic streets with charming historic homes. Be sure to bring walking shoes! If we return we’ll definitely stay in the mansion!
