My stay at Mood Matuna was absolutely lovely. The room was beautiful, spacious, and extremely inviting—it was spotless and felt like a true escape. The staff was incredibly attentive and hospitable, creating a very safe and welcoming environment from start to finish. I felt completely relaxed and at ease throughout my stay. The hotel is perfectly located in the heart of the city, close to everything you might need. There are supermarkets, local shops, bakeries, and even a shopping mall just minutes away. It’s not too far from the famous Clock Tower and the Walled City, making it an ideal base for exploring Cartagena’s charm. Tour guides and excursions are readily available in the area at reasonable rates, and there are plenty of great restaurants within walking distance. This is a beautiful hotel with exceptional customer service and an amazing team. I would absolutely love to return. Highly recommended!

The property is in the heart of the walled city. It’s perfectly positioned to find plenty of food, music, art, and vendors. During the day it’s very loud but at night it quiets down. The hotel staff were very accommodating. They ordered taxis for us even when we weren’t at the hotel. The VIP wine wasn’t great but it was a nice special touch. The room was very spacious but the bathrooms are super small. I had a great experience and I felt very safe. Also, keep in mind that there is a shared balcony so if that bothers you, maybe bring a door stopper. The beach was like 2 miles away. $5 USD taxi ride. And EVERYBODY is trying to sell you something. The room service in the hotel was nice and timely. I’ll definitely be returning

Felt like I was scammed into this stay. Payment taken and service denied to my counterpart. Ultimately denied entry after confirming with the guest service agent at check in that the verified credentials were acceptable. Her documents had been stolen a month ago and she only had her information but no physical copy. After explaining and verifying, the front desk agent assured me the information was satisfactory. Ultimately ended up going to a different local property and paying for another room, after the hotel took payment and denied entry of my counterpart. I work in the service industry and am an independent consultant that’s came down for business. My counter part is the lead bartender at a new coffee bar that I’m looking to do future events with. In short, she was profiled as a prostitute due to me being American and her being native. I understand prostitution creates external issues for the local business and city, but this ultimately turned into a completely mishandled situation. Be mindful of your guest and make sure everyone in your party has physical documents on hand. I started my hospitality career in hotels and this was probably one of the more ridiculous situations I’ve encountered. Beautiful property but the service is lacking. Always verify with management. A lot of young staff that seemed to not be proficient in their roles and all that entails.

A really great breakfast, made to order. Very spacious family room. One block from the walled city. However, the worst bathroom lighting in the history of hotels. I had to bring a flashlight into the shower to read the various soap/shampoo dispensers.

Overall, a very positive stay at this property. A friendly and helpful team of staff with a good quality restaurant onsite that served throughout the day. The room had strong and effective air con unit, and was very spacious. A large comfortable bed with nice bathroom / shower facilities. I selected this hotel partially due its onsite gym, which while it was small, had a good range of equipment and was clean. The highlight was the moment the hotel team got me a bottle of white wine because I don’t drink red wine as part of welcome gift. And the reason this review wasn’t 5 stars is due to a few (simple to fix) missing elements in the room. The facilities would be improved by some hangers in the wardrobe area, an iron in the room, and hand towels hooks in the basin space for when you wash your hands, etc…

I really enjoyed my stay at Mood Matuna. The room was clean and very spacious. The water was hot and plentiful for all of my showers. The cozy restaurant and bar are nice touches. In my particular room, the shower water did drain a little slow but nothing overwhelming. The staff was really great and helpful. Its a small boutique-like hotel with about 36 rooms, which I like. Right outside of the hotel is a short walk to food, entertainment, shopping and much more. If you are planning excursions, I was picked up directly from the hotel for one and the other was just a 2 minute walk to the pick up location, but check for your particular excursion choices. Book this hotel!

A very nice and clean spot in the heart of the old town. One odd rule about no guests but i did like the key pad doors, which elimates the worry of leaving your key in the room accidentally.
