I was quite shocked at how run-down QT is now. We had actually booked a newer hotel closer to the airport, but since QT is closer to the city and I’d had a good experience staying there in the past, we ended up booking with QT instead.
Check-in was a bit of a hassle, with only two staff at the front desk and three groups ahead of me, so it took ages to check in.
We had a terrible sleep the first night because the bed was extremely saggy and soft. We should have called to swap rooms, but since it was late, we decided to stick with it.
I raised the concern with the front desk the next day, and they were very helpful and changed our room after an inspection.
Also another annoying thing is that it’s heavily understaffed I think, we tried to call after hour like 9pm (being told 24/7 desk) it took ages for someone to pick up, we had to call multiple times.
On the day we left Canberra, we tried to buy some pastries from the lobby since we were hungry, but when we went to the café, we were told they never have any pastries… odd.
Also, note there’s a lot of construction going on around the area.
Overall, while the staff was helpful I will not stay at QT again. It’s nowhere near being a 4 star hotel.
