「Super staff, very friendly. Room was 95% (shower was small and bathroom could have done with a little refresh) but food was excellent, and lovely atmosphere all round. Very popular to say the pub is in a tiny village, so obviously has a very good reputation. Good use of space with several covered outdoor areas for dining or sharing a bottle of wine :)」

「The staff were delightful and really went above and beyond to make my stay memorable. Including a hand written note in my room upon arrival and addressing me by name at breakfast. Something I've never experienced before. A great place.」

「Really enjoyed it for a night. Spacious rooms. The only thing we didn’t like was the pillows need to be changed out, they smelled of BO and the rooms were so hot, make sure you turn off the rads if you don’t want to be boiling all night. We made sure to crack a window. 」

「It was an amazing stay, staff lovely and helpful, food was great in restaurant, rooms were really nice too, only negative would be bathroom! Tiles broken on floor where toilet is and window need a blind or curtain as tge frosted stickers are peeling off and people can see into bathroom! However this did not take away from an amazing stay. Anyone using pool should probably be made aware pre visit that you need a padlock for lockers also.」

「We finally got to The Holly Hill Inn, due to the weather (snow) we were contacted a couple of times by the staff, warning us about the weather, which was nice. When we arrived the staff were so friendly and helpful and we arranged to have food in the restaurant, which was first class, and the breakfast in the morning was just as nice,, so highly recommended this place…. Definitely booking again thank you」

「Lovely property overlooking the Green.. rooms were very well decorated and seemed very opulent.. the room we had though felt a little cramped.. the bed was very big. But was awkward to get around.. the tv should be on the wall.. the bed was so high off the ground that you couldn’t see the tv properly! And my biggest bug bear in hotels etc… no dressing area.. no where to sit to dry hair etc!! But the hotel was very clean.. staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was lovely… easy...

「the room was not warm enough and although mentioned to the staff, it was some time before the heating was sufficient. The tea maker was in a cupboard on the floor. This is the first time I have encountered this in a hotel, This was not easy to make the first cup of tea in the morning. Having mentioned these two points, the staff we met were very helpful and pleasant. 「The bed and breakfast accommodation was very nice, clean tidy and well presented. Had a meal in the main pub which was also very nice. Breakfast (cooked English) was served which again was freshly prepared and a choice of cereals was also available.」

「Lovely historical property and good value for money. Quiet location, great stop off for travelling on the A66, with Barnard Castle just a short drive. Easy check into cosy courtyard cottage. Nicely decorated and furnished, though the bed would benefit from a better quality mattress. Friendly staff and good breakfast. Evening pub menu satisfactory but not exceptional.」

「What I love this hotel the most is the breakfast, its by order and put you feel like on vocation (I am on biz trip). The staff was very nice as well. The hotel location is perfect and nearby market place, very easy to walk around this lovely city. The only thing that need to improve is the internet connection, it was that good in my room.」

「Excellent location and good facilities.」

「Absolutely amazing atmosphere with all the fires lit in every room. Amazing history and almost like a film set. Really busy at Sunday lunch but thats because the food is really good. We had a small apartment which seemed to be brand new. Huge comfy bed so had the best night sleep!」
