El Cortijo de la Fuente is truly a rare find in this area: with over 200 years of history, surrounded by nature and stunning views of the sea and mountain, and only 5 min walk away from Bédar's centre and its local swimming pool, this house is very well connected with places of interest: Vera, Garrucha and Mojácar beaches are a 15 min drive, and other popular areas such as Cabo de Gata, Níjar and Almeria Airport are also nearby. This is an ideal place to rest, breathe and reconnect with yourself, but also to have fun with your family and friends. Bédar is a beautiful village, which dates back to the 9th-10th Century and was built by the arab comunity of the time (the “Mozarabs”); in fact, you can still see some remnants from that period, such as the iconic white houses, water canals (called "acequias") -which feed the trees around our house-, and the village fountain ( "La Fuente"), where we still collect our water from (it is only 100m away from our Cortijo). It also has a couple of good bar/restaurants, two supermarkets, one bakery and a museum.
Aside from all the stunning beaches in the area, there are many mountain routes which are very interesting (the Ruta de la Minería is quite a highlight!).
This house belonged to my father Alfredo, and he worked on it and decorated it almost all by himself for over 30 years. We've all loved spending time with our family in this place, and I hope that you feel as welcome and as happy here as we have been.
