We arrived at Walnut Cottage a bit disorientated thinking we had landed in the middle of nowhere, but the charming little cottage was so lovely and "old fashioned" and we really took to it. The owner had prepared a fresh baked loaf and slices which were delish, sadly the eggs and bacon etc provided to us in the fridge went unused due to the overindulgence in the Barossa. We sat outside in the sunshine and had our wine and cheeses listening to music and thought we were in heaven. The cottage actually is a stones throw away from the main street where there are a few choice of restaurant and bakery, but a 10 min drive to Tanunda where there are more choice, however it was extremely quiet and private. It was extremely clean and although it was period dated it was very very homely. The owners provide everything you could think of, it really is home from home and i would have no hesitation in recommending the cottage and would certainly visit again. The only reason i rate 4/5 above is purely personal choice as the bed to me was hard and we had to try both (2 bedrooms), the location although lovely could just do with a bit more choice, but that is because i don't want to drink and drive and have heard the taxis are a bit iffy. One thing i may add, would be if the owner would provide a personalised taxi service - not on a whim but an arranged booked trip to and from nearby restaurants i.e. Vintners - obviously for fee then this cottage would be a 6 out of a 5 for sure
